British Sapper's Sabre of Constitutional Guard (1791 – 1792)

British Sapper's Sabre of Constitutional Guard (1791 – 1792) Beautiful gilt bronze handle with a high crested cock's head chiselled with feathers. Guard with two horizontal quillons. Slightly curved blade with flat back, against edge. Stamped on blade with crown over "GR". The sword with a brown leather scabbard with two bronze trimmings, decorated with lines. Buttoned cap. Engels Sabel voor Sappeur, (1791 - 1792) Sabel met massieve bronzen greep en pommel i.v.v. een hanenkop. Lichtgebogen enkelsnijdige kling, gestempeld met ‘kroon boven GR’. In bruinleren schede met messing monturen en dubbele draagringen. Lengte: 81.5 cm. [II]
