Biography:

Johannes Jeroen Maria (Jeroen) Henneman (Haarlem, October 17, 1942) is a Dutch painter, draftsman, graphic artist, illustrator, sculptor, and theater and television maker. Henneman grew up in Haarlem and studied at the Institute for Applied Arts in Amsterdam from 1959 to 1961. Following this, he traveled extensively to Belgium, France, Switzerland, and the United States over a long period. He lives and works in Amsterdam. His most famous work is the monument "De Schreeuw," created in 2006 in memory of Theo van Gogh. The memorial, unveiled in 2007, represents freedom of expression and how Van Gogh was silenced. Another well-known piece is a portrait of Princess Beatrix. On April 10, 2015, a statue of the poet Leo Vroman, who was born in Gouda, created by Henneman, was unveiled on the roof of the Chocoladefabriek in Gouda (a building that houses, among other things, the library and the regional archive). April 10, 2015, marked Vroman's hundredth birthday. At the end of 2023, he was named Brilliant Artist of the Year 2024.
