Biography:
Rob Clous (Haarlem, April 28, 1940) is a visual artist from Haarlem. He took drawing and painting lessons from renowned Haarlem artists such as Henri Boot, Wim Vellekoop, Louis Schutte, and Poppe Damave. During the same period, he also worked for six years as a scenic painter for the Dutch Comedy in Amsterdam. As a graphic artist, he is self-taught. His bright and colorful prints evolved from his early simple black-and-white prints, which he created on old roofing zinc. His subjects were very diverse, covering topics such as jazz music, ships, scrap metal, and garbage dumps. The later etchings were produced using four color plates, which align precisely during printing on the etching press, resulting in a richness of color.
