Yashar Ajami joined Hessink’s in 2022. He advises private, institutional, and corporate collectors, as well as museums in North America, the Middle East, Europe, and the Caucasus. An expert in Middle Eastern antiquarian books and manuscripts, he oversees two auction departments: Arts of the Islamic World and India, as the Director, and the Books & Manuscripts department, as an advisor.
He began his career in 2009 as an independent researcher and collector of calligraphy art and manuscripts of Middle Eastern heritage. Since 2013, he has worked with numerous private collectors and museums, leveraging his expertise and extensive network of professionals in this field.
Mr. Ajami has lived and traveled extensively across the Middle East, the Caucasus, and the Indian subcontinent. He has a good working knowledge of Persian, Arabic, and Urdu.
